As with many mums these days, if I’m not running after the kids or doing household chores, I’m online. Whilst social media can be a great waster of time, it’s also a great way to find out more about what’s happening around me. Cos, let’s face it, these days if it’s not on social media it didn’t happen 😛

Run by a husband and wife team, Creation Station NZ exists to provide quirky and one of a kind personalised items for the whole family. So tell me more about Creation Station and how the idea came about?
Originally Creation Station was a kids painting party business but evolved with the arrival of our first daughter to specialise in personalised giftware and clothing.
What were you doing before Creation Station?
Before Creation Station I worked in accounts at a local school.
How do you manage juggling being a Mum & running a business?
Some days are better than others. I snatch time when I can while my girls nap or are in bed for the evening. Recently hubby has come on board too – managing orders and doing the majority of the work so I could focus on our new baby. I couldn’t do it without his help and support. Our private joke is that he is better at my job than I am (his job before this one was in signwriting). I am a better mum if I get my “play” time during the day. Being able to create personalised gifts or special items and hearing “I LOVE IT” from the client, makes my week!
What is your advice to anyone starting up a business for the first time?
GO FOR IT! Its hard work and I’ve made many mistakes but I wouldn’t change it!
What are your top 3 favourite products that Creation Station has produced?
- My top favourite would have to be the Breastfeeding, cloth nappying, babywearing kinda mumma tee I made for me!
- Next favourite would have to be our lightbox slides. We custom make whatever people ask for. See the album on our Facebook page.
- My third top favourite is hard to pick from our custom mugs or our range of tees for men. My husband has an awesome sense of humour and has designed quite a few shirts that make awesome man gifts.
If you had a super power, what would it be?
I’ve always wanted to fly!
Vanilla or Chocolate? Chocolate!!!
Biscuit/Cookies or Cake? BOTH! I have a serious sweet tooth!
