Like alot of little boys, Master A LOVED anything to do with construction and construction machinery. It didn’t help that when he was 3 months old we moved into a new place opposite a construction site. With the big dump trucks and huge trucks with diggers on board, Master A was entertained daily, when he was 2, just by sitting at our big front window watching the trucks etc go by. On any drive we took he was quick to point out any diggers on the roadside, making sure mum knew the difference between an excavator and a bulldozer (I’ve heard the phrase “it’s not a digger mum” ALOT! lol).
So it was only natural, when selecting a new bedtime book, that it was to include something about construction. Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site is a cute bedtime story about the machinery at a construction site. It goes through the various machines, their daily routine and then their bedtime routine. The child says good night to each vehicle, before the sun goes down. The wording is very much like a lullaby, with words/actions like “yawn”, which helps with the idea of going to bed. We’ve had many times where Master A (and now Miss A), have started yawning before the book is done because they are so relaxed. Which makes putting them to bed easier (Yay!).
The illustrations are well done as well. I personally love the cuteness of all the drawings, which I’m sure is lost on the kids though 😛 The pages are drawn so they look like they are bathe in sunlight at first, then fading light, and finally moonlight at night.
We started with this book when Master A was 2 (he got it for his birthday), and he still loves it for bedtime now. Even Miss A loves it, although she’s not as big into construction (a girl thing? idk). I’d suggest this book to any parent with a construction loving kid 🙂
